Last week, my friend Kris and I visited the Streatery hot dog cart in Woodruff Park. Streatery carts can be found in different locations in Downtown Atlanta (Centennial Park/CNN Center, the Georgia State Student Center, the World of Coke/Aquarium area, and Peachtree Center), and are know for their locally made all-natural beef hot dogs.
In addition to hot dogs, Streatery also serves veggie dogs, turkey dogs, sausage, and chicken sandwiches. They also have a fifteen options for topping your dog, and eight specialty dogs. I had the Aquarium, a beef dog with ketchup, mustard, chili, and goldfish crackers (I also got some shredded cheddar cheese on it), with chips and a drink as part of their $5 combo special. It was one of the best hot dogs I’ve had in Atlanta.
The Streatery experience combined several of my favorite things: leaving the office for lunch with friends, chili, cheese, affordable food and eating outside on a nice day. I’m hoping that a cart will make its way up Peachtree Street to Midtown.
