Losing Weight On A Budget

May 12, 2010 in Weight Loss Wednesday

I’ve been continually putting it off, but I really need to get in shape.  Summer is only a month away, and with it come two trips to the beach for me.  I also registered for the July 4th Peachtree Road Race and would like to go the full 10 kilometers without a trip to the medical tent.  Historically, I’ve been a yo-yo dieter, and each of those diets have come with some sort of expense.  Gym memberships, prepared shakes and meals, and weight loss meetings have helped me to shed pounds before, but I also paid a lot for them.

About a year and a half ago, I lost 20 pounds on Weight Watchers (that have since been re-gained).  I really enjoyed the meetings and liked being accountable to others when it came to weighing in each week.  I thought about signing up again, but I don’t like the idea of having to pay $39.95 for a monthly pass.  The same goes for the gym membership I cancelled.

I’ve decided to try to get in shape by making (affordable) changes to my lifestyle…starting today.  So, even though some of my friends told me not to do this, I’ll be posting my weight and an update about how it’s going every Wednesday until the end of summer.  Wish me luck!

Week 1: 155.6 lbs

I’m impressed – posting your weight to your blog! We’ll get us both into running shape just in time for the Peachtree on 7/4!

I think it’ll give me motivation to actually train this year. We need to run together in the park sometime soon!
