A big part of my plan to get healthy has been increasing the amount of fruits and vegetables that I eat. Luckily, there are several great farmers markets in Atlanta that have locally-grown, affordable produce. In season produce at the farmers market is often cheaper and tastes better than what’s offered at a grocery store. Resources like pickyourown.org list the locations of farmers markets in your area and have calendars that show the harvest dates for various crops. Here are a few of my favorite farmers markets:
- Every Saturday Morning May 1st through December 11th from 9 am to 1 pm at Piedmont Park’s 12th Street entrance gate. I often go to the Green Market because it’s within walking distance to my apartment and I love the crepes from Crepe Revolution.
- Saturday mornings from 8:30 am to 11:00 am at 1393 N. Highland Ave Atlanta GA 30306.
- Thursdays, 4 pm to 8 pm from May through November at 1231 Glenwood Avenue at Village Hardware
- Saturdays in May through Mid-October from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm in Downtown Alpharetta (next to City Hall).
