Happy 2012! Over the summer I read the Happiness Project and one of the “Splendid Truths” in the book is that “The days are long, but the years are short.” That statement is affirmed by the fact that I’m seeing the occasional grey hair on my head and have been reflecting more on the things that I’d like to accomplish as a get older. With about a year and a half until my 30th birthday, I decided to put together a 30 Before 30 list of things that I’ve been meaning to do, but keeping putting off. Here’s what I want to accomplish by my 30th birthday:
- Make a Large Donation to a Nonprofit Organization
- Speak at an Event about Saving Money
- Pay Off My Student Loan
- Take a Risk
- Mentor Someone
- Find a Mentor
- Blog Twice a Week
- Go to a Blogging Conference
- Take a Class
- Go on a Date
- Help to Grow My Sorority’s Young Alumnae Group
- Run a 5K (Instead of My Usual Running/Walking Method)
- Fit Into the Overly Priced Jeans I Bought a Few Years Ago
- Write a Will
- Make a New Cooking for One Recipe Each Month
- Perform a Random Act of Kindness Every Month
- Visit a Friend Who Has Moved to a Different City
- Visit a Foreign Country
- Go on a Mission Trip
- Visit Three States That I Haven’t Been To Before
- Visit Dollywood
- Go to the Epcot Food and Wine Festival
- Go to High Tea
- Get a Proper Bra Fitting
- Throw a Party
- Join a Singles Group (and Actually Go to It)
- Have a Spa Day
- Mail a Card to Someone Every Month
- Bake Something Every Month
- Decorate My Loft
As I check things off the list, I’ll be blogging updates about my 30 Before 30 progress. What goals do you want to accomplish?

I haven’t read the book, but I love that quote!! My list is very similar, but I did not put a deadline on it. I think it’s really neat you’ve set yours at 30! I am going to go look at mine now (I just published it too to help me achieve it) and pick out a few for 25, 30, 50, etc.
I love the Epcot Wine idea!
I love the life list idea too! I’ll have to put one together after I finish this one. Disney also hosts a Wine and Dine Half Marathon during the festival at Epcot that looks like a lot of fun.
Nordstrom does a really good bra fitting. It’s free unless you buy a bra which you don’t have to. They will show you bras in your size in different price ranges.
We have some of the same goals– proper fitting bra, go to blogging conference, and fit into overly priced jeans I bought! Lol. I also want to learn to play pool, rollerskate well, and to become more financially responsible (which is why I read your blog).. Happy New Year–looking forward to learning more this year!
Just discovered your blog! Great list!
I too have heard Nordstrom does a good bra fitting. I keep meaning to go…
And please post your cooking for one recipes! I am always looking for new recipes but hate that I end up eating the leftovers all week!
Thanks for the Nordstrom bra fitting tip, Sweeta and Suz! I didn’t know that they did them there. I’ll definitely post the (successful) cooking for one recipes.
I can help you out with #18! Come visit me in Salamanca if you want!
WOW! I’ve passed 30, so I’ll have to work on my 40 (I’ve got a little more time, though – 7-1/2 years). I’ve achieved only 3 of those things before I was thirty (well, not including the date)…Keep on it! Also, check out 43things.com! It’s a great site for keeping track of short term goals IMHO!!
Thanks for the tip about 43things.com! I may have to borrow some of the ideas for when I’m ready to tackle my 40 before 40 list.
