My 30 Before 30 List: January 2012 Update

January 30, 2012 in 30 Before 30

2012 is off to a bit of a rough start.  This month has proven to me that single people can definitely be busy because I’ve had a ton to do this month.  I’m disappointed that I didn’t meet my “blog twice a week” goal this month, but January has been overwhelming with work and with a lot of other obligations.  It didn’t help when I found a comment from a random jerkface on the internet calling my blog “garbage.”  So thanks so much to those of you who take the time to regularly read Single & Saving and (hopefully) don’t think that I write garbage :)

Despite a crazy start to the year, I managed to cross get a few things on my 30 Before 30 list accomplished.  I’m planning on posting the progress on the 30th of every month.  Here’s the first update:

  1. Make a Large Donation to a Nonprofit Organization
  2. Speak at an Event about Saving Money  {Hooray for crossing something off the list! I spoke at the Chocolate Chat “Chatting Finances” event last night.  It was the first time I’ve ever spoken about saving money in front of a large group and I really appreciate Erika for giving me the opportunity.}
  3. Pay Off My Student Loan {Slowly but surely}
  4. Take a Risk
  5. Mentor Someone
  6. Find a Mentor
  7. Blog Twice a Week {There’s always next month}
  8. Go to a Blogging Conference
  9. Take a Class
  10. Go on a Date
  11. Help to Grow My Sorority’s Young Alumnae Group {Ongoing. We had 10 people at our lunch on Saturday!}
  12. Run a 5K (Instead of My Usual Running/Walking Method) {I started Couch to 5K last week. I’m thinking of running a 5K in March}
  13. Fit Into the Overly Priced Jeans I Bought a Few Years Ago
  14. Write a Will
  15. Make a New Cooking for One Recipe Each Month {Mmm…Sweet Potato Fries}
  16. Perform a Random Act of Kindness Every Month {I paid for the toll for the person behind me on GA 400}
  17. Visit a Friend Who Has Moved to a Different City
  18. Visit a Foreign Country
  19. Go on a Mission Trip
  20. Visit Three States That I Haven’t Been To Before
  21. Visit Dollywood
  22. Go to the Epcot Food and Wine Festival
  23. Go to High Tea
  24. Get a Proper Bra Fitting
  25. Throw a Party
  26. Join a Singles Group (and Actually Go to It)
  27. Have a Spa Day
  28. Mail a Card to Someone Every Month {I sent thank you notes for all of my Christmas gifts and a card to congratulate a friend on her engagement}
  29. Bake Something Every Month {I made funfetti cupcakes with chocolate frosting for my small group}
  30. Decorate My Loft

How are things going with your 2012 goals and resolutions?

I love your blog & shame on the person who thought otherwise! Seriously, I get excited every time I get an email notification that a new post has been added. I’m excited for your ’30 before 30′ accomplishments, it sounds like you made some great progress in the midst of a crazy month schedule-wise! Way to go!!

Wow, someone actually took the time to say Single and Saving was junk?! You’ve hit the big time! That’s how you know you are doing something right, when someone on the internet tells you that you aren’t. Congratulations!!

Also, I find S&S to be extremely helpful and I’m not even single. So take that, internet troll guy!

Thanks Anna-Elizabeth! I’m so glad that a married gal can find S&S helpful too.
